今夜は仕事の後、裁縫の基礎クラスへ行ってきました。今回で３週目。一番最初は布の仕組みやミシンの使い方、そして先週は型紙を作って布を切っていく下準備を終えました。
そして今夜はいよいよ縫っていきます！
ミシンは教室でも無料でかしてくれるのですが、自分のミシンに慣れたくって重たいミシンをよっこらよっこらもっていきました。
このクラスの講師はMassey大学でファッションデザインを教えているジェン。かなり若い人で教え方もちょっと足りないかなぁって思うこともあることあるけど、とっても親切だし聞いた質問にはやさしく丁寧に教えてくれます。

私がいつもいくナイトクラスは多くて２０人近くの生徒がいるのに対し、ジェンのクラスは４－８人とかなりの小クラス。質問する機会がたくさんできます。
クラスも町のど真ん中（CBD)なので、通学も便利♪ 建物もおしゃれな建物で、中は半分ソファーなんか置いてあって、隣のクラスはヨガやっていたり、SmallBusinessの会社があったりといろいろです。

今ショルダーバックというシンプルな形の物を作っているところなんですが、最終段階がちょっと難しい。裏返しの裏返し、みたいな手法なので、なんだか頭がこんがらがってしまって、きっと一人ではできないかもしれない。でももうすぐ出来上がりなので楽しみです♪
思っていたよりたくさんの工程があって、アイロンやFuserは案外ポイントになるアイテムだなぁと実感。小さないろんなコツも教えてもらって、今まで疑問に思っていたことがどんどん明らかになってきてミシンの使い方にももっと自信がついてきました。
来週は出来上がりをアップすることができると思います！

返信削除Did you do the sewing class at the Welly High? Jenny's one is pretty small it seems to be. Her website says 4-8ppl and mine is only 4. But one has been dropped out so there are only three of us! ;) Come join us!
Yup I did but it went too fast for me :( This one finishes soon aye? I'm doing cup cake decorating classes on wednesdays next month which is when it looks like the next lot of sewing classes are. I'll give her a call tomorrow about when she next has space - I have a sewing machine but I hate not being able to sew anymore (or more like, not living at home to get my mum to help anymore!)

Jenny has "Freestyle Sessions" and the date seems to be pretty flexible. She also just put more classes on her website but yeah, the basic class is on Wednesday night but I'm doing the introductory class which is on Tuesday night. You'll find a lot of useful tips even from very intro class. I'm glad that I started with it rather than the intro class.
You should also subscribe her news latter or follow the twitter. She put a lot of good info. :)

Yeah, it's my valentines day present from my bf! It's with the lady who makes them at the little shop in the Old Bank arcade. I gave her a call today and she said I can join in July when the new term starts. yay!

返信削除OMG, that's a lovely gift!! I love those practical present rather than giving me something I don't really want and can't chuck it away...
Is that a shop called TEMPT or TEMP or something? They are great cup cake shop! I didn't know they were running a class! You must tell me where they are!
I've just got back from the basic class and finished my first project! I'm going to upload to my blog later. If you didn't have the cup cake class, we would have been classmates. :)
Yup that's it! it was really sweet of him because he knew I used to make them all the time before we got together. He's a builder, so he's pretty practical like that!
